I Am Really Just So Chill 🕊️

I love my peace.

I love my music.

I love myself.

And yes,

I love this man too

~

but love alone

isn’t enough.

Not without mutual respect.

Now,

don’t get me wrong.

My desire for respect

doesn’t mean

I’m incapable of submission,

nor does it

make me a feminist.

It’s simpler and yet deeper than that:

love without respect

isn’t an acceptable arrangement for me.

Here’s why I'm chillin'.

Respect creates the foundation

for consideration and care.

It’s what makes

someone pause and think

before they act,

especially when those actions

could hurt the person they claim to love.

Love

might show up

in the sweet gestures,

the affectionate words,

or

the way someone makes you feel.

But respect?

Respect is in what they don’t do.

Respect

means

they wouldn’t lie,

because

they value your trust.

They wouldn’t neglect your feelings.

They wouldn’t

do anything to cause you

unnecessary pain.

If respect is missing,

how can love truly thrive?

Today,

I’m chillin'

about my decision

to let go.

Not angry,

not

bitter,

~

just at peace

with

what is.

Maybe

one day

he’ll understand

what mutual respect really looks like.

Maybe he won’t.

Either way,

I’ve made my choice.

I sincerely hope

we both

find what we’re looking for in life

a peaceful,

blessed kind of love.

The kind

that feels good

because

it’s grounded

in something real,

something safe,

something mutual.

Until then,

I’ll keep loving

my peace,

my music,

and my writing,

my beautiful family,

and myself.
